17 for 22 on the YFT @Hud Can

Went out with my friends Thursday into Friday. We got there around 3:30 pm. A half hour after the spread is out and we hook up with YFT on the spreader bar. I realy thought we would be killing them for the rest of the day, but not even a knockdown from the point on, on the troll. We finaly find a pot with some good bait on the bottom a decide to settle in on the chunk. A half hour into the chunk and bang we land another one. Its now 2 hours later(10am) and I'm thinking "I hope this isn't the same pattern as the afternoon bite", so i decide to get some z's. Around 1am all fun breaks loose I cant get my short on quick enough, I get out there with my new Stella rod and Seragusa spinner and start jigging! within 2 drops I'm hooked up and the rod is no longer a virgin! It get real crazy for about an hour and a half, bite offs, tangles, cut offs from the wheel, 6 fish on the deck and nobody tending to them, blood all over the place! It finaly calms down enough to bleed the fish and get them in the box. I take my second nap, which is short lived. The mahi show up and the fun breaks loose again. We put a few in the boat when a 160lb sword shows up chasing the mahi. I'm still jigging at this time and end up hooking the sword! it's short lived due to my drag not being set right. The drag was set to tight and as the fish went to run I turned his head and sent him under the boat and lost him to the wheel. We ended up going 17 for 23 with 2 release's on the Yft. My best day ever so far. I only been doing this 6 years and from all the chatter I hear it's been the leanest years ever with last two being the worst.
    I hope this bite continues!

Those guys are crying because I lost the sword which even if he didn't get to the wheel would have been a fight of a lifetime with the jigging rod

Great report!! Did you chunk the E or W wall? Planning to overnight the Hudson this weekend...hoping the bite stays on for us. We got a good trip in earlier in the month when the troll was red hot...looking to keep the deck bloody for the rest of the offshore season!!
