Fishing Report

11-22-09

The Jamaica sailed today and had very good action. There were some bass caught today but the abundance of bluefish made it hard for the bass to get to the jigs. Some passengers caught 5 bass today with about 1 out of 5 being a keeper and all of the blues you could possibly use. The blues weighed from 4LBS to 15LBS.
The pool winner was:
Ed Kerkes from Ewing, NJ with a 15LB bluefish.

The Jamaica is scheduled to sail every day at 7:30AM for striped bass. There is a special sailing time on Thanksgiving Day leaving 6Am - 12 Noon. Striped bass trips will continue through December as long as the bass stay in range.

Striped bass fishing was good again today. We were on a 12Hr. Wreck trip and caught some ling in the Mud Hole, but came inshore at the end of the day and had some good action with striped bass and bluefish. The Big Jamaica will sail for striped bass Sunday at 7:30AM and we are scheduled to sail every day through the second week in December for Striped Bass and possibley longer if the bass stick around.
There is a special sailing time on Thanksgiving Day leaving 6Am - 12 Noon.
All types of jigs were productive today although more bass were caught on the A-47 jigs without any tail, just the plain hook. The best method today was to drop the jig to the bottom and then retrieve it at a moderate speed. Jigging on the bottom did not produce many bites. Also reeling a few turns and stop & go also produced more bites from the bass.
