Crab mustard is good
11/17-18 Stripers
With a crew of six, we headed to the lower Delaware Bay, Saturday afternoon for some of the striper action reported earlier in the week. Lines in at 4:00 PM, first fish netted at 4:15. Although the bite wasn't super hot, it was steady and we were having a blast, so we fished all night straight until the bait was gone (4 dozen fresh, 1 dozen frozen). Our second to last piece of bait, a bunker head, lured our last keeper of the trip at 8:30 AM Sunday morning. It made for a long, but fun night, as three of us (WLM Mate, my dad, and myself) stayed awake most of the night only sleeping in shifts, a couple hours each, while the rest of the crew opted for the warmth of the salon later in the night.
All in all:
6 in the box, 2@33", 1@36", 2@38" and 1@40".
8 throwbacks, all 26-27".
1 bigger blue, and a few dogfish late, which were actually fun to catch, delirious at five in the morning.
Water 52-53 degrees, 32-35 feet of water, chilly but beautiful weather.
Most fish caught on bunker chunks, only a couple on heads. Live spot were out most of the time with no takers.
