Porgies – Triggers – Blackfish – Ling – Cod (oh my!)

This past Weekend we had some good Porgy fishing and we also had some Trigger fish and a few Blackfish as well.

John Stevens from Paterson, NJ had 15 Porgies, Paul Johnson from Neptune, NJ had 14 Porgies, Willie Jones from Philadelphia had 17 Porgies and John Tyler from Bristol, PA had 10 Porgies and a keeper Blackfish. Sunday’s trip was very slow with a big swell and miserable conditions.

Monday we had the big swell in the morning that slowly diminished as the day went by but we still had some decent fishing and far better than Sunday!

Joe, Geno and their two buddies combined for about 45 Porgies, Fred and Ricky Benson had about 2 dozen Porgies and Moe Ramnauth from Basking Ridge won the pool with a 4lb. Trigger fish.

Tuesday and Wednesday’s Mudhole Ling trips were slow with some anglers landing a half dozen or so Ling each and some less plus a number of short Cod (especially Wednesday) were caught along with a handful of keepers. Kirk Davis from Rumson, NJ had 5 Ling and a Porgy (not expecting that out in the deep!) and Bradley Michael from Freehold, NJ had 4 Ling and 2 keeper Cod, one of which was the pool winner at around 7lbs. Wednesday we had more Cod caught than Tuesday but fishing overall was about the same as Tuesday.

Our Marathons sail every Monday & Friday from 6:30am to 5:00 pm. Our Marathons give anglers a longer day, fishing the wrecks, rocks & reefs targeting primarily Porgies and we have also been catching some Trigger fish, Blackfish and even a couple Fluke! (at least through the 25th!)

Our Thursday, Saturday and Sunday trips will sail from 6:30am till 3:30pm and are targeting primarily Porgies and we have also been catching some Trigger fish, Blackfish and even a couple Fluke! (at least through the 25th!

Our Deep Water Wreck Specials sail every Tuesday and Wednesday fishing the deep drops in the Mudhole and other areas for Ling, Cod and Pollock.
