No way...I have seen a lot of deer and none with that on them. Leave it for the coyotes. Dont forget biologists make mistakes too. I wouldnt want to take a chance and get sick.

Wart this... That looks like full blown basil cell carcinoma and laying it down really could be looked at as euthenasia. I have seen warted deer and will eat them. The hind quarters are probably fine and even the back straps. If that shit on the outside goes past the skin on the way in, sling the front half.
I lost the front half of the small pig this year to a broadhead sitting in there and infected. The infection wasn't spread all that far but no way I'm looking to find out if any made it farther...

Sad to say, but anyone who has ever had a hot dog has eaten a lot worse!
I still would not eat that one.

    guess again

to Costaricasportfishing, and your 40lb. guess, here is the deer alive, he is not a big deer, neither is he 40lb.

Purplegold, I did skin it, under the skin, there was no sign anything was wrong with the meat. There was a membrane present covering all the wart spots just like all the rest of the hide.

Box, I was on a hunt about 30 years ago when a doe like this was taken at Uwharrie by the guy that owned the building where my gun shop was. He just cut the tail off that one. We later ask a biologist and he said you could eat them. I asked a biologist today, he said you could eat it.

DeepC, I kept the hams and loins, it was shot through both shoulders which made them easier to leave.

I think I would pass on that one. Even if the meat was good all I could think about when chewing was the way those warts look. Dang near gags me thinking about it now.

It is NOT Basal Cell Carcinoma. It is Cutaneous Fibroma. You can Google it to see pictures of deer that have it.

Cutaneous Fibroma is a viral disease that will not render the meat harmful.

I'm sure its fibroma but man! I was being fecetious with the carcinoma jab... That is by far the worst case I ever saw. If it didn't penetrate past the membrane then its good to go.
