wish comes true
Yesterday I ended my post by saying " I hope tomorrow is Kay's day" and my wish came true. She decided to set up in a little more open area this morning and it really paid off. She just used a single hen decoy and a little after 9:00, 4 gobblers found her homemade bone call irresistable. Kay has used this bone call to cause the death of many a long beard. She worked the birds in close until one of them spotted the decoy and here they come. At 35 yards, her 2 3/4 heavy #6 load put the lead bird down for the count. The others didn't seem to know what happened and knowing she might not get another chance to hunt this season she decided to add another tom to the stash. This time she reached out to 44 yards and still the heavy #6 proved they are worth the price and the 2nd bird bit the dust. She could have ended her GA season right there with still another chance left but decided to hold off and leave the other 2 for seed. She had fairly steady action throughout the day and talked junk with several more turkeys, passed on a jake, and had to run off hens to leave this afternoon. She had one hen bow up on the decoy as Kay put it "came in with a purpose". She dropped her wings, had her tail stiffened out but not fanned, and then proceeded with verbal abuse. Once she said her peace she went on about her business. Kay had very good day and I had my wish come true. I sure hope we get at least one more chance at them.
