    Winding down

Looks like things are winding down in the Deer woods. Still seeing Deer but not the bigger bucks like the past few weeks. Hopefully they will show again with the short second rut in a week or two. Almost time to sit down and do some video editing!! How about you guys any luck seeing any big boys this past week...Mark

Deer are slowing some here in Apex, going mostly nocturnal I guess for now. I did just get back from Pennsylvania and shot a nice old 13 pointer on opening day.

My last time in the woods was the November full moon. It was the first time this season not seeing a deer. I probably won't deer hunt much more this season. It's time to kill some ducks.

deer activity has picked up for me but the big bucks have not been out. I've been seeing big groups of does(8 to 10) but no bucks in tow. I have only seen one 2 year old buck chasing does in the last week. In the past these next 2 weeks could be a good time to put a mature buck in the freezer for me. I've noticed quite a few new rubs that look like are being made by mature bucks. This late in the season always tests my patience. Good luck.

Ditto for me Tom, I hunted saturday afternoon in the snow. I should have taken my camera because it was beautiful. I saw a large group of does and babies too. One lone buck cruised by around 4:30 but he had some more growing to do. He looked to be chasing though with his nose to the ground and fast pace. I'm looking forward to this weekend with the cold snap this week. Good luck.

Sat. am had the biggest buck I have seen in years chasing a yearling doe in a group of 10 -12 does. I hate to say I missed him at 60 yds with a slug as he chased her by. Saw him again about 30 min. later still chasing, too far for a shot. In the lase 4 years the biggest bucks killed on the farm I hunt have been killed late shotgun season or late muzzeloader season. They are always chasing does. Huntin in MD.
