Wil's Bow Hunt

This year Wil really wanted a "REAL" bow to shoot and maybe try to hunt before the year was out. Well on October 3 we surprised him on his 10th birthday with a Diamond Razor and not only did he get the bow, but a friend that fishes with us in the summer drove all the way down to the shore to set him up and give him some pointers. Terry Mullin from Jefferson Archery was waiting outside for Wil and a new chapter was started.



Wil practices just about everyday before school and really wanted to make the goal of small groups at 20 so he could go hunting. Well it did not take him long before he was reminding of the deal and he was ready to go.



We had hunted about 3 times with many sightings, but no luck on the deer within range. Many a squirrel got buzzed, but not hits yet. On Sunday we had our 1st close encounter with a Doe that came in and stopped behind a holly for 20 minutes at about 15yds, would not come out until a spike busted here out and the chase was on no shots taken on deer, but a squirrel narrowly escaped a close shot.



On Tuesday we head back to the "After School Stand" close and quick, and are settled in by 4:00. Sure enough squirrels are everywhere and Wil draws at least 5 times before he gets a shot and this time the squirrel was not so lucky. 1st Bow Kill!



Well a little later here comes the spike from Sunday night. Will slowly gets in position and waits for it to walk behind holly and draws. He steps out the other side and stops perfect. Wil did a great job at taking his time and settles the pin and makes a great shot!



We can not thank Terry from Jefferson Archery enough for taking the time to drive to the shore to set Wil up and give him the proper basics to start with, Thank you Terry there is always a spot for you down here when you want to come down for a hunt.

I told you he looked "DEAD" serious on the bowstand and that critters were in danger. AWESOME job Wil. You don't know me but I am a bowhunter and very proud of you and your accomplishments. CONGRATS on your first deer with the bow. It's one you will never forget. Hopefully there will be many many more to come. Thanks to your Dad for the love and support he shows you!!!!!!!!

thats awesome, I waited 5 years for my first bow kill and I was in my 20's, That dude is going to be an awesome hunter getting started this young.

My boy is 10 months, cant wait to teach him how to hunt/fish
