    WHITESIDE TREES A RATTLER

Earlier this evening while my DAD was working at the farm WHITESIDE(a beagle my son keeps on the farm) got his attention. He was barking and carrying on like crazy, and not running anthing. DAD went to investigate what was troubling WHITESIDE. It seems WHITESIDE had found a RATTLER between a dog kennel and the row of small trees by the field. I would feel safe guessing it was a 5 1/2ft TIMBER RATTLER with 16 rattles. WHITESIDE you earned your keep, this time. I have some pics of dad with the snake. He is alive in all these pics. Immagine running into this one on the way out the woods in evening. DAD sent him over to the house and we plan on having him with some fish tommorow afternoon. I wil post pics of him dressed out soon. And let you know how it cooks up. I plan of frying it like you would do fish, maybe cook some fish too.

That is one huge snake. I would freak if they were that big along the river where I fish. The sound of those rattles must have been absolutly spine shaking.

Props to pops for holding that thing while it was alive. That is a jumbo rattler. Looking forward to the culinary review. I had it once and enjoyed it. Curious, are you sure it is a Timber and not a Canebrake?

Yea, they are the same. Canebrakes are the lighter phase and more common in the low Country. Big ass one at that.

    TASTES LIKE CHICKEN

The meal got two thumbs up all the way around the room. This is the biggest one I have gotten to cook. The skin I am gonna dry it out and do something with it. It is pretty large and I haven't decided. Probably let dad do that since he did catch him. I thimk it would look nice stretched out on a board and hung in the main room, since he was found there in the yard. Kinda as a reminder of why the OLD TIMERS call the area RATTLESNAKE CROSSING. It would keep us on the look out as we left early in the morning to get in the stand. This is not the first snake WHITESIDE has treed this year. He has found several BLACK SNAKES and a MOCCISAN right there in the same area. Good job WHITESIDE and DAD...
