Deep Deckand hasn't answered his phone all week... We had a thing to do in Long Island this eve and that was all locked in but he wouldn't answer the phone about the other big question. Like where were we gonna hit for the opener this morn?
So there I sat with a full quiver and a de-scented set of realtree's finest all alone this morn... No place to go and nobody to go with...
About noon the phone rings... Its him... He shot two, tagged them out went back and got another....
Ummmmmm? Dooshberry, did you for get something? Namely me?
"Oh I didn't think you even had your bow up here"
Yeah I got it and a $137.50 non resident license that I told you about last week.... Bullshit, he knew full well. Too good to hang with his cappy when he has his huntin buds to pal around with...
So he forgot to bring me... I think I sould forget to bring him to the bahamas or a few of our tournaments this year... What do you think?
Flogging him then selling him as chum crossed my mind... I could lock him in that big new fish box we have - then turn on the eskimo... I think I got a better one though,,,
I'll have him take me to one of his private spots then I'll go ahead and shaft one of his trophy deer instead of my usual meat one...
Well... Got done with boat shit for the day and decided to scout one of my old old spots. Super sneaky place. I even have permission to be there...
Before deer ever lived in these parts. I had a clear trail on this piece to make my way to its little beach for duck hunting. Its been years since... So in I walked trying to see if there was any path left to get in... It was bad and getting badder. I'd be about as stealth as a Sherman tank if I was to try and hunt it...
There I was maybe 80 yards in when I heard something... I became part of the furniture and waited. It closed in... Not like a deer. To clumsy. Bear? Nah... Cadence all wrong. I see a patch of black. Then I see metal... Then a Glock...
Now mind you this place was walking distance from my home so I had no vehicle parked in the street. But low and behold I have a cop working his way in.
"Hello. Good day officer..."
He about shit! Startled at first then down right indignant at me being there. "This is private property. You're not supposed to be here..."
"Blow it out your ass... I have permission from the landowner."
I guess he was testing me "This is private property!"
"Yeah I hear ya general... And again I have permisssion to be here, do you?"
That set him back a bit then he got friendly. "So whatcha doin?" He never did answer my question.
"Scouting for a possible hunt but she's overgrown too bad, no lanes, bad drag and enough quicksand back in there to swallow a man if he makes the wrong step."
By now he could see I knew the spot. He went from badgering me to pickin my brains. He seemed almost disappointed when I pointed out the brush was too thick to get in or out clean but he perked up when I fed him intel that could get him in there if he had a boat.
I'll let him do that. I'm not hungry enough to run my Viking aground pr set one of the boss mans contenders on a pebble beach... I guess I'll have to go back to plan "A" and brutalize one of Dooshberry's honey holes...
Well full moon, wind and warm doesn't do much for my drive to get up at 3:30 so instead of going and peeing under his tree stand or pronging one of his pets, I decided to pull a no show today... It turns out the deer had already moved though in the night and his gang tallied one ground hog for the whole group...
