    What do you think?

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. -- A Lancaster County farmer was attacked Thursday night by an animal, believed to be a large cat.

He saw the animal and shot at it, but was later attacked.

Now, the state Game Commission is working with state police to search for the animal.

As part of the search, a state police helicopter is flying over southern Lancaster County.

The farmer escaped serious injury and is helping in the search.

I hunt rifle up in sesquhana county,a few years ago i found a pretty decayed deer carcass about 12' up a tree in a notch where the limbs seperated....anything is possible, the G.C will never admit the possibility of a moutain lion in pa untill some one puts a round in one....then i guess they will fine the piss out of them for doing it.

Lived in NWPA most of my life. I have seen two. One in Franklin while trout fishing little Sandy Creek in Bear Hollow, and the other in Erie while fishing Elk Creek for Steel head. The one in Franklin was your normal fawn colored mt. lion just sitting a little up the bank watching me and my buddy we started yelling at it and it left. The other was coal black like a panther which was puzzling, four other people in the area saw it and one actually got pics the DNR tried to say it was just a large house cat. I saw it from 30 to 40 feet away it wasnt a house cat. We threw it a steelhead we had on a stringer and beat feet out of there. That was NWPA but the whole state is prime habitat with lots of food options why wouldnt they be there? A friend of mine who is a state game commisioner said they are there, they just downplay it because they dont want people trying to trap and kill them. He said they even recovered a body of a big cat just outside of Pittsburgh. It was a juvenile but he said it was still big enough he wouldnt want it sneaking up on him in the woods.

    Mountains Lions

They are in western Maryland and in West Virginia and Bobcats as well so why doesn't PA State DNR Recognize that they are there for educational purposed so that no one's kid gets grabbed on a camping trip out in the mountains instead of trying to play the liberal defensive of trying not to let someone shoot them? That kind of stance will back fire sooner or later on the DNR when someone's little child gets mauled in front of them on a camping trip. Shyline Drive is loaded with cats and Bears in Western Maryland and into Virginia. I took a lot of Wildlife classes at the University of Delaware when I was in school for Engineering and I can tell you that in college they teach the habitat and location of Bobcats and Mountain Lions and PA, MD, VA, and WV were all included. I'd almost bet this was a Mountain Lion. I'd bust him if I saw it with a a gun in my hand no doubt.

I asked someone at the PA game commission abotu them one time. I was told IF there are any Mt. Lions in PA they were pets that someone released out in the wild. I told him he was full of shit... I am sure someone has one as a pet but I don't know of anyone...

There are several held as pets in PA. I even know of a bengal tiger pet in Butler one of the girls I went to college with in the early 90s at Slippery Rock had it. They had a barn that was completely covered on the inside with cyclone fencing that they kept it in. Theres more than just pets in PA. Look at the topography of the state, the amount of forests and game animals it is prime big cat habitat.
