The numbers are definately down with the state issuing two doe permits but the does and bucks seem to be running a little bigger...first time muzzeloading in PA, Im psyched for the warmer weather and the green fields..

I can honestly say the bucks are getting bigger. They put a Antler restriction on them a few years agao. Some parts of the state is a 3 point per side min. and other parts are a 4 point per side min. I am 30 years old, I have been hunting since I was aloud to at 12. I will say the deer numbers are going down every year unless you are down in the Philly area or other heavy populated areas. The deer are not dumb. They can go hang out in some ritzie development and be safe because Mr. Treehunging Obama lover will freak if he sees you hunting.

You say you are looking forward to the warmer weather and green fields... Archery came in on Oct.4. I have only hunted 1 time because it has been too warm. If you shoot one you better get it out ASAP.

The NW part of the state get some monsters over 200lbs isnt uncommon. The 3-4 rule has definately helped with the size and to clarify it is only required that one side has 3 or 4 the other side could be missing. The bad part is in some areas one side of the road could be 3 the other 4 so you need to be aware of the boundry lines. It looks like we're moving back up to the Pittsburgh to Erie area, wherever I can find a job. Still looking down here and cant find anything. Oh well at least the wife will be happy, and Ill be able to shoot something other than 140lb deer, of course I can shoot quite a few more down here.
