Look forward to it... While fighting the rising storm on the boat this morn and digging up some extra dock lines I stumbled on a bag of mirrolures I forgot I even owned. Must be an omen...

Gonna go back over to the dead spot now and shift our game about fifty yards into the thick where we finally found some sign..

Well it was more like a couple hundred yards but there they were. Drive netted two does... Destined for the grinder and ultimately Chub Cay... Coldest wettest shittiest hunt I can remember but meatindabox I guess makes it worth it.

That being said they still wouldn't cross into our regular areas... We made the adjustment and scored but it doesn't answer what may have happened to the "spot".

    Then again with a zilch!

After seeing a 160 class monster next to the road a quarter mie off our area it was game on. We set in a skirmish line six guys across and three drivers. The drivers circled behind the bucks position and we set up in front of it. A half mile push from hell ensued and nothing...
I had a beautiful sit with half of a hill and thick bottom to monitor with back up on the the next hill behind me to make sure nothing squeezed through. We had the same set up on the other side of the hill. The drive was wide getting narrow to either push them over or down either that hill and nada! The one outboard driver on the left saw three does and a rat break to his left early in the push. Other than that groundhogs, squirrels and chipmunks were the only life any of us saw....
I counted three packs of five or six each on my street driving home but nothing up near the house...

They'ld have it worked and gone before I could put the empty bag in the trash... Actually though I take that back... I laid some out there last year and they ignored it. Squirrels had a feast, even some ducks came in but the deers didn't care for it. They're big on apples, acorns, various subburban flower, bushes and trees around here...

As for the X, I broke her in on one a couple days ago a couple hundred yards east of where we usually work. Thats where we set the skimish line today but the critters sidestepped us...

Would love to let fly in the neighborhood but they give you hard time at Rahway state for shooting violations in Jersey. Not just a trip down to the court house, get scolded, pay your fine and go home like it is in other places...

it could be someone in the hood is feeding them what they want and they relocated their bedding areas? It doesn't sound like coyotes would be there but that might get the deer to act different. I know in North Carolina we have more acorns than I can ever remember seeing on the ground this year, I have not been seeing as many deer feeding in the fields since they don't have to travel for food, maybe they have a similar food source in the area where they don't have to travel to find the food.
