Here's another Saturday that I couldn't go to OI so I figured what the hell lets do a adventure hunt!! A few years ago I found a great narrow ridge between two swamps. The ridge is only about 60yds wide and about 200yds long. It is surrounded by swamps on all sides and the only way to get there is by John boat and paddle. Its a good 1/2 mile from where I put the boat in. I haven't hunted it because it is just so darn hard to get too. Well this morning I bit the bullet and loaded my climbing stand, bow saw,Bow and lunch then headed up the creek (with a paddle) about a hour before sunrise. Did I mention it was 24 degrees!! After cutting my way through a few small trees that were blocking the creek I finally made it to the ridge and put up right in the middle of the ridge.
What a view from 20ft up!! Swamp everywhere and this was the only piece of dry land around. Wood Ducks were raising cain at sunup and the action began. You could hear Bucks chasing Does crashing though the water on all sides.I had a few small bucks come through after does before lunch and then things went quiet for a few hours. About 2:00pm the action started again and I watched a total of 11 does fawns and bucks work the little strip of dry land. Finally at 4:00pm I saw a nice Buck chasing a Doe heading right towards my stand. I whistled and he stopped perfect in a opening and after the shot only ran about 40yds but never made it to the water. One of the biggest 6pointers I have seen in NC in a long time and a great Management buck to take. I long day in the woods but quite the adventure. Had him back to the truck before 5:00pm!!!..........Mark

Got to love it when a plan comes together. I have been shooting Carbon Express arrows since they came out. They are great arrows and everyone flies true. Even though they are on the expensive side they are worth every dime.....Mark
