    DE Weekend Deer Hunting Report

So what are the weekend hunting reports, hope everyone did well...

I went bow hunting sat morning, I was in my stand by 4:45am and had my first customer around 6:30, Doe #1 in the bucket at 25 yards... Decided to sit a while longer and at 7 a second customer came and and arrow #2 was let loose, doe #2 in the bucket... Went two for two by 7 am and called it a day when a rain shower started at about 7:30.. My first day out with a bow EVER and two dead, I might keep this bow hunting thing going. I still have more tags to fill... I might try an evening hunt this week and back at it this comming Sat morning..

Hope everyone had a productive hunt this weekend...

Here is a pic of the first Doe I shot my phone died after I took that pic...

    Thumbs up

Too early here in Harford County, Maryland for shooting does. I have seen a total of 27 doe since Sat. opening day and have passed on every one. The meat is too mushy right now. I wait til they start hittin the corn more, to stiffen up the meat. I had a 10 pointer Opening Day but it was on the move and I did not have a ethical shot.

    Maybe next time

Box I heard from Kyle over the weekend, he was working on his new duck boat and had an inncident....story goes the toungue landed on his big toe and cut the nail and end clean off, I will let him fill in the (stupid) details.

I kind of like soft mushy meat....maybe I better go get a couple now instead of waiting till November when they are working the corn and gettin stiff

I'm still somewhat of a rookie. But my family has hunted in Vermont for many years. I have a friend in Maryland where I live and his father in law told me about the meat theory. He does state that on the eastern shore of Md. this theory is not fact because they eat grain all year. It must be a local thing where we live. He has hunted the property that I hunt for 48 years, so I have to somewhat beleive the old timer. I can wait for meat. I'm looking for "BUBBA". I had a 10 pointer walk right under my stand on Opening Day, but I could not get him to stop and I could not get a good kill shot. Maybe next time

My hunting has been limited so far. Went dove hunting on the 1st & was part of a 37 man limit, best dove shoot ever.

I have been bow hunting once, saw 4 including a nice 8 point. closest they got to me was about 100 yards though. Its too dam hot to shoot a deer right now. Although I have secured some nice new spots to bow hunt in a couple of weeks.

As for the meat thing my buddy stuck a grill sized doe on sat (spots make a good target for aiming) , Best tasting one I have ever eaten. Not soft at all but since there was still milk dripping out of it's mouth that may have had something to do w/ it.

Now for the toe thing, I am an idiot & we will leave it at that . Cowboy got most of the story correct. Worst part is there is no way I can put on waders, hip boots or knee boots to get on the early teal season this weekend. I can live w/ out boring deer hunting but no waterfowl sucks a big one. Hopefully we can at least go kill some tuna instead.

Great job Fiore3. Nothing like that fresh meat in the freezer.

You guys are lucky down there. Our firearms season doesn't even start until November 16, although archery season did start Sunday. By November 16, we usually have snow on the ground and the high will rarely get above 40 (good and bad - love winter). My dad wants to bowhunt just because it's not that cold. We're already seeing lows of 32
