Our spot always kicks ass when we get a freeze followed by a good Jan thaw. Mallards and blackards, your days are numbered.

Good luck Bert--- We're hoping for the same thing.
What glenn said. GOod luck bud. We hunted our feild on sat evening and saw a LOT of ducks. with the weather they were unfortunatelly high and unintrested. But mark my words just 1 raindy shitty day and it will be a mass slaughter. Come on weather.!!
A few more birds than the last 2 weeks, but still below normal. Monday afternoon produced 3 Mallards, Tuesday afternoon's hunt brought son#2 and me a pair of Blacks and 1 Mallard.
2 of these 6 birds had rice breast.
Slow here, I saw alot of birds but they seemed mighty weary, and would not fall for my ruse.

Nope--never is noticeabe until you get the skin off. I don't eat Amberjacks due to a few worms in the meat, I sure ain't going to cook something that looks like it is infested with maggots---- I know that the "rice grains" are really just cysts, but I ain't eating it when I know about it.
Up until about ten years ago it was pure sacreligious to do anything but pluck a whole bird, so Lord knows how many rice breasted ducks I've eaten and not known about, but I ain't that hungry that I have to.
Jay, they're all getting smart this late in the season that's for sure.
Usually have a few with rice breast every year, but have not seen any this year...
