    Question WADERS????

    Allright guys.

Its time for some new Waders. I realized yesterday while standing in the marsh in about 4 Degree temp(with windchill) that i am sick of hunting with leaky waders. Had to get my buddy to pull of my waders, they were frozen to my pants and sox

Now i have had Hodgmans for 4 years. Great pair of waders, especially in there hay day before i put a million thorn holes in them.

So im in the market for some good waders, i dont whant anything cheap or low cost, not saying im full of money but i am willing to Drop the extra $$$$$ to get good gear. I whant something warm, and that can handle the pain of duck hunting(im HARD on my gear).

So what do you guys think, just get another pair of Hodgmans, or perhaps something better is out there.

Post up the suggestions ASAP, im trying to order them today.

    Thanks, Shane

I personally like Lacrosse, i bought a pair of canvas rather then neoprene because i was tired of them fitting so tight with anything other then a pair of jean and a sweat shirt. With the canvas you can about wear anything you want under them and be alright, the ol neoprenes get you in a wad at times...

    i vote lacrosse....

If you have to stand in the water for a long period of time I would go with the Neoprene ones. I have a pair of cabellas that I have used for the last 4 years. We have sunken blinds and are usually standing in about knee to waist deep water all afternoon, and have yet to get cold on the coldest of cold days. I have had the canvas ones and my feet would freeze.

    and these fleece-lined wader pants:

I love them, and a good friend of mine just ordered the same setup. I was standing on ice in the blind yesterday and it was 18 degrees. I honestly wasn't even thinking about the cold. The nice part of the waders is that they'll be comfortable during the early seasons and won't get torn up by thorns like neoprene. You can always put another layer on, but those 40lb neoprene waders suck when it's 70 degrees.

I've always hunted with hip boots until this year because I didn't trust neoprene.

I've got Cabella's Ultimate Waders. Have had them for years. Mainly hunt in the swamps of Dorchester in the Fishing Bay area. Know for briars and wet swampy water. My brother turned me on to them and I ended up buying a pair of the Ultimate Chest Waders a couple of years later because I liked the hip waders so much. Very warm boots.

Stocking foot neopreme waders with seperate wading shoes. Ya, they are a pain in the butt, but your feet won't be throbing after a hour as they would be with the others. And you will stay warm.

Keep in mind the most common fatal accidents when duck hunting are drowning and hypothermia. Neoprene floats and warms. I won't get in a duckboat after Nov 1st without them.

Each to his own--I've been using neoprene for about 7 yrs and will never go back to the old clunky, cement boot, GD they will wear on you, canvas Hodgemans. One thing about the neoprenes is they fit snug enough that you can fold the bibs down while in a blind or boat and they don't fall down. The less weight makes all the difference in the world for me--- warm too. My neoprenes are Hodgeman as well and I have been lucky and only put one hole in them over several years of swamp hunting (they sell neoprene repair kits that work and last). In fact, I'm off tomorrow to buy a new pair for son #2 as his canvas pair is finally shot.
