Finding them isn't all that tough. Its when they cross out of shooting country into the surrounding no tresspass places. Our piece of woods is surrounded by horse riding estates with some really unsympathetic groundskeepers. We've tried in depth to explain we are not hunting on their places but need to retrieve a woumnded or dead deer so it doesn't go to waste. These bastards are thick skulled and just say no. And yes... They do call the cops and press charges...

Today was a day off to go do some inshore fishing (report in inshore section) but as I drove through my town I about fell out of my drivers seat. I spent my youth in touch with all the critters that lived here. We had muskrats, rabbits, squirrels, a stray fox or two, quail, and pheasants along with winter skies full of ducks...The years have changed this place. Giant houses grew more gigantic but the lanscape has remained pretty much the same. The animals though have changed dramatically. Perrigine falcons, redtail hawks, foxes and subtle changes in habitat have all but made the pheasants and quails a distant memory. The canada honkers have driven the ducks to remote spots. Deer have appeared from nowhere proliferated and has populated the area with world class bucks... Last year I even saw my first Coyote... Today though tossed me the newest curve ball.
I drove past a field I once kicked pheasants and saw a big black shape. Ok no biggie. Must be a buzzard... Four moure black thing then another four come out of the thick... "Oh crap! Its turkeys!!!"
So now the circle comes complete. My hometown with its rock stars, movie icons, mega millionaires and celeb status has become a world class unhuntable refuge for Americas great upland game while sitting between world class striped bass rivers...
