From my resources the reason is a typical antlered bucks begin to pick up abnormal antler characteristics such as kickers and beauty points about the burr as they get older. When they get really old, in their teens, their antlers typically look like small twisted bonsai trees. I believe you said it in your first post, the deer you shot were really old and this plays a toll on the antler characteristics. Maybe these deer were on AARP, did they walk with a cane or have a stroller? You have knack for finding those ole ones.
