    TROPHY MOUNTING CONTROVERSY...

THROUGH THE YEARS THE MANY BATTLES THAT I HAVE HAD WITH ANTI - HUNTERS, AND (JUST PLAIN NON-HUNTERS WITH NO REAL AGENDA), ALWAYS START WITH,"YOUR A TROPHY HUNTER,YOUR A KILLER, YOU HAVE ANIMAL HEADS ON YOUR WALLS".

THEY BELIEVE, THE ANIMAL WAS KILLED PURELY FOR THE SPORT, AND THEREFORE THE BODIES WENT TO WASTE.

I USUALLY SAY THIS, I HATE TO HAVE TO DEFEND MYSELF ON THE CONSTANT THAT I'M A HUNTER AND I KILL ANIMALS FOR THE SPORT OF HUNTING, THATS WHAT HUNTING IS A SPORT. YES I HAVE MANY ANIMALS MOUNTED ON THE FLOOR AND THE WALLS, AND YES THEY ARE MY TROPHIES, THE MEAT IS ALWAYS EATEN BY EITHER MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE THAT I HAVE GIVEN THE MEAT TOO. YES, THERE IS A THRILL OF THE HUNT AND THE KILL THATS PART OF THE SPORT, AND I ENJOY THAT THRILL.

I TRUELY BELIEVE THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY BELIEFS AND ACTIONS PERIOD...

SO MY QUESTION IS, WHATS YOUR THOUGHTS AND POSITION ON THIS ISSUE...

As long as the meat does not go to waste a mount/rug/scull/boot/jacket/etc is just an honor to the creature it represents.

If I'm not gonna eat it, I ain't gonna kill it. If I happen to get a trophy out of it as well, then I have used even more of the animal than if I had simply eaten it.

    NYBH,

Sound's like you're just another blood thirsty thrill killer(yes pun intended) without a moral compass! I personally do not kill without using the meat, hence my not wanting to take a grizzly. I would how ever consider it an honor to get close enough to make a clean kill with a handgun, without ever firing a shot. I have the same feeling about bill fishing, killing an animal just for "proof" doesn't turn me on. There are many animal's that I would love to hunt (Africa Safari come's to mind), but after hearing that they don't eat what they take, not so sure. I believe I'll stay right here nad not change a thing. I believe the same arguement could be made for taking billfish, that end up in the landfill. Not such an opponent for that either! Frank

We eat most of what we kill, but I will admit that the thrill of taking a grizzly and brown bear (neither eaten) with the bow was something I will cherish till I die. To each his own. All of our African animal meat that we did not eat was donated to the locals there. They have nothing and waste NOTHING. They eat the meat from the jaws and the inside of the hoves. They washed the intestines and hung them to dry like jerky. Not one ounce of meat was wasted over there. As ugly as wart hog is, it made some of the best stir fry I have ever tasted. We have eaten some our black bears but I prefer other game. I respect those views who say they don't kill what they won't eat. I happen to make a few exceptions, and am not one bit ashamed of it.

WELCOME TO THE ELITE CLUB OF KILLING A BROWNIE AND A GRIZZ, WITH A BOW, NOT MUCH IN LIFE CAN TOP THAT THRILL. I HAVE DONE IT MYSELF AND I CAN RELATE TO THE THRILL THAT YOU HAVE HAD. THE MEAT IS EATEN BY A SELECT FEW, BUT I WILL NOT TRY EATING IT AGAIN.YOUR 100% RIGHT ABOUT AFRICA, NOTHING AT ALL GOES TO WASTE FROM ANY TYPE OF GAME THAT IS KILLED THERE, THE VILLAGES REALLY APPRECAITED THE MEAT AND EVERYTHING THAT GOES WITH IT INCLUDING THE BONES. I WAS ABLE TO KILL SOME BIG GAME THERE BEFORE THEY JUST ABOUT STOPPED ALL BIG GAME HUNTING WITH A BOW.

AS I SAID BEFORE, BEAR MEAT IS ABOUT THE WORST THING THAT YOU CAN EVER COOK NO LESS EAT, I PREFER ROAD KILL GUMBO OVER BEAR MEAT...

I believe if you kill something when hunted/fished it should be for consumption and not for a thrill.Otherwise, i feel you just wasted a life for amusement/thrill. If someone wants amusement, then go ride a roller coaster.

THE THRILL OF THE CHASE, THE THRILL OF THE HUNT, THE THRILL OF THE KILL, NOW YOU HAVE YOUR MEAT AND YOUR TROPHY, MAY IT BE HUNTING OR FISHING YOUR THERE FOR THE THRILL THATS THE POINT OF IT ALL, OR YOU JUST WOULD'NT BE THERE...

AMUSEMENT HAS NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH IT.
