Trick or treat

Worked on the boat through mid afternoon. Deep Deckhand called and few minutes later we were headed to a new hunting spot... At least for me... This hunt was about harvesting some camp meat for our up comming boat ride south...
We got set up in a great looking place with oodles of woods, fields, thickets, and sign... I saw a doe getting run by a buck a short time into the sit... Then a short time later I could hear some in the thick a hundred yards up the line from me... Then I heard different sound... People... More specifically, kids in halloween crossing the woods to a neighborhood a little way away.
Couldn't have asked for a better drive. In my case the deer that pushed wouldn't give me a clean shot. Deep deckhand though was in the right line. I think I heard him say "trick or treat before letting fly...Fwack! a few seconds later another Fwack! Gathered up one but the other has gone deep in the thick stuff and will have to wait for morn to be dug out...

We didn't want to hunt the piece again but with one down and still uncollected we really had to... Even way early both parking lots that had been empty yesterday were pretty full. Deep Deckhand has been battling a bug and after parking had a near accident...

Got set up and the hunter prensence was soon known. I could hear a hawk blowing one guy and a squirrel busting another... That turned into a good thing... Ok a samwich sized one but still camp meat and one less that needed to be culled...
Quitting time had us scouring the turf for last nights missing one... A gut pile a couple hours into the search let us know somebody else beat us to it...
Time to go get a boat ready for a run now...
