    TIRED OF GETTIN' SOAKED...

DOES ANYONE HAVE OR KNOW OF RAIN GEAR THAT REALLY WORKS. I HAVE MORE RAIN GEAR THAN THE AVERAGE HUNTER AND NONE OF IT IS WORTH IT'S WEIGHT.

I NEED SOMETHING THAT WORKS IN EXTEND PERIODS OF RAIN,SLEET AND SNOW. DON'T WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY GORE-TEX PRODUCTS.

I ALSO HAVE RIVERS WEST, IT WORKS FOR AWHILE BUT IT HAS TO MANY PROBLEMS.

SO BACK TO THE QUESTION; IS THERE A TRUE 100% WATERPROOF RAIN GEAR?

NYB, I have been searching my whole hunting career and have yet find the "one". Many hundreds of dollars of disappointments is all I have to show. It is either rubber/plastic (both noisey and both are sweat boxes) or it leaks. If it says breathable, that is another word for "it leaks". If you plan to sit still as in stand hunting, then rubber will pass. At no time will plastic cut the mustard for me as the noise is too great for a bow hunter. Walking any distance at all and you will be wet with sweat. I have yet to see a gortex product that wasn't noisey and also leaked. I was gonna try the Rivers West products so it sounds like you saved me some coin and another flop. If I find the "one", I will probably become a distributer because it will be worth it's weight in gold to the serious hunters of the world.

When Bob Foulkrod says "Gortex kept me warm and dry", I have to imagine he hunted from the tent or cabin by the fire. Bout like the saying "forget the wind just hunt".... if you do, you will spoke more than your share of game and you will be lucky if you see anything.

i got a browning big game parka for Christmas. it is supposed to be water proof. havent been in the rain with it yet but i will let you know how it does. it has alot features to help it me dry. velcro locking neoprene cuffs, a wide rubber trim to cover zipper, etc. it is also a quad.

the wettest i have ever been was in about 2000. we were fishing a tournament in the atchafalya basin. i had purchased a set of frog toggs. a tropical storm changed directions and came over us right at daylight. i put on the toggs as soon as we launched. it rained non stop until 1:00pm. i was wet within 20 minutes. soaked all day i took them back and traded them in on some sterns rain wear. (rubber) it will keep you dry and is fairly quite. you will sweat.

i did buy another pair of toggs in bright yellow. they are the heavier version. i stayed pretty dry during hurricane gustov in them. they are noisy.
