("v" needs to point away from the big loop) grab nut and washer and slide open end of cable in the other hole in washer. slide down to make a loop of about 12". put other nut on other end of cable........nut needs to be big enough to double end back through before you crimp it. this makes a 2" loop on the non business end.

put the business end loop about 9" off the ground on a yote trail. this is serious medicine for yotes. it is non discriminating, it will catch dogs so make sure your pets aren't running loose on your hunting land.

put three or five on a rabbit trail. put one hanging 3" off ground. you will catch rabbit. it will make distressed rabbit sounds. you will catch several yotes coming to get the rabbit.

you can make 50 of these in an afternoon for not much money.
snares are illegal in NC except in some special beaver removal applications

Good call weekender. Just a general disclaimer........always check your local laws on any advice I give or others give as laws vary by location.

that said, LA and MS they are legal. I stopped by the feed and seed store in Woodville, MS to pick up some hunter's orange, mine got ate by the 4-wheeler, and they had some nice, heavy duty snares with sleeves instead of nuts to secure connections. they were $1.25 each. wow you can't make them for that.

Weekender, i haven't set snares since my stint at trapping back in the 80's. i shoot them while hunting. i stuck a big one this year but couldn't find him or the arrow. knocked him down and he got up and took off. I was, as usual, in hurry to get on to other things and didn't spend a lot of time looking for him.

i probably won't put any on the lease because of too many pets and deer dogs, unless of course one of the land owners brings it up the coyote problem again. she raises cattle and they get after her calves pretty bad.

when we were in Canada this year goose hunting, we took a ride with one of the guides that likes to ride in the field where they put out all the discarded fowl carcasses after cleaning. he said he had shot several already this year. We didn't see any that evening.

here are two that a buddy of mine killed last week. he employs the same basic technique. he rides around fields in his Polaris and shoots them when he spots them. We are planning on using a foxpro caller that a buddy of his has and get after some of them when the deer season closes.
