Thanksgiving on Core Banks

Thursday morning although it was going to be slick calm we decided to go and blast last years rusted shells we found in a closet!
Got set up as the eastern horizon was turning red just in time for some hot chocolate...



No ducks flying early and the buffleheads started moving around as the sun came up on beautiful Core banks.



A little sunshine on the decoys and them dippers should have stayed home...







Patrick got an unusual shot in our area as some snow geese came out to check the beach...



Anyway it's a good thing the season closes today as these boys put a hurting on those poor birds as they wait impatiently for the red and blackheads to come down!

A dead Snow goose is a good Snow goose... Looks like the boys put a hurting on the little Buffelheads...

I take it the boat steering is still working ok and the carbs got cleaned...

We hunted Pamlico and plenty of scoters not many divers.

got rough on us and had to run in before we could get our rig up due to waves comin in the boat. Managed to lose a layout that isnt mine along with 60 decoys. Searched for them for over 8 hours on a shrimp boat and never found a thing

Lee, the green machine got her first service in 7 years! changed the steering bar and they blew the crap out of the carbs, good for another 7 !


Brandon, sorry that trip ended up as a bad day! Was that friday or saturday? The boys dream of a lay boat...

It was saturday.

Friday was pretty nice..along with the best scoter hunt yet. I just hate that yesterday went the way it did.
