Teenage changing Passions
It's been interesting for me to see my two oldest get so passionate about hunting this winter. Since one of them can drive it has given them a lot of independence and they've been able to go out as they please (once the homework is done!!!).
What they are able to do in this country would be mind boggling to any European. A 17 year old and his 15 year old driving and boating by themselves to go hunting.... Most of you guys take the outdoors and what it offers in this country for granted, I still see every day that America the Beautiful sure is a fabulous place to be. These boys latest passion ; wood ducks for Jacky and woodcocks for Patrick (early this month was all about redheads that are the best!). They've been discovering the pleasures of Jordan and Harris lakes by canoe this winter as the duck boat stays at the coast and come back with great stories.... They've also been forced to learn to cook all these birds and have come up with good recipes. The days this boy can't go to the Gamelands he "has to" go and take a timberdoodle a couple hundred yards away from the house... ![]() I must be getting old as I'm starting to prefer listenning to their stories rather than getting up at crazy hours in crazy weather! Rock on boys... MM |

You have done a great job introducing these young men to the sport. I commend you for that. Seems all to common now a days young boys and girls aren't exposed to the outdoors. No better playground in my opionion...seems they have taken the ball and ran with it

Fact is those boys are lucky to have you as a Dad, one that is willing to cut some "apron" strings and trust them enough to let them out on their own, of course it is a 2 way street and that trust had to be earned. You have 2 great lads that can run with me anytime that they want, always a pleasure to around them...
Hum...and they can cook to...

Fantastic, Looks like you raised some fine young men. I myself got two little girls 7 and 4. Oldest has been squierel? huntin but got cold so we'll try a little later. They enjoy eating game it helps when Dad is a trained chef but the key is to not dry them out and cook with some liquid for the tougher cuts when cooking game. Thanks Tim
