A Sunday Afternoon Walk With Shadow,

Figured I'd take a couple hour walk this afternoon (before the rain set back in) with my dog Shadow. Went to the farm field and woods behind the house. Walked in to see a nice fat doe watchin use, she moved on. Just then an absolute wall hanger buck walks in behind her. He had a set of tall white bones that would have looked good on anyone's wall in this area. We move on through the woods that I used to rabbit hunt in all the time. Well it's nearly knee deep in water now, with more rain coming in tonight. Needless to say no rabbits. Thought I'd walk her through the hardwoods to see if she had any interest in squirrels, only saw one. I should say I saw it, she didn't. We're walking through her nose and ears are workin overtime. She's behaving quite well, not getting too far off and coming back when I whistle to her, good dog. We get to a good place in the oak's and I hear turkey's. I tell her to sit and she does until she hears them to. Off she goes and the next thing I know I'm covered up with the birds. She comes on back with that look of "dad why didn't you catch one of those turkey's Ijust flushed to ya"? Long walk back to the house with her running through every ditch and mud hole she can find. After her cold bath (with the hose) she's all cleaned up and laying by my feet next to the wood stove. If you put both of us together you'd still not have anything. But I think I'll keep her. Love my dog. Frank

Nice read Frank - Koa's got a thing for geese - she usually hears them long before we can see them. She will sit and start scanning the sky...

Ah, Labby's name Shadow. I've had two, the original Shadow Girl and now Little Shadow. Both stole my heart and were my best friends ever.

Give her a hug and a "good girl" for me, Frank.
