summer fun at the deer camp

me, the bride, Alden and his girl friend, Sydney went up to the camp the past weekend. they have been dating for a year and half and she has never been to the camp....any deer camps for that matter. She had been camping before but didn't really know what to expect.

We got there Friday evening and took a little 4 wheeler ride up in the hills. She was not real crazy about the bananna spiders but she hung in there for the ride. later that night we built a fire, even though it was hot as hell, and cooked some smoores.

Saturday morning Alden and Sydney went with one of our friends crappie and bass fishing in the Boat Hole and Libby and I went bass fishing in the first beaver pond. both crews had a good day in spite of the the 110 degree heat index.

Around 2 Saturday they wanted to do some shooting so we went up to the rifle range and shot the 22's, 270, and AR15. That Sydney can shoot a 22! had a group as good as Alden. She opted out of shooting the 270 but we did talk her in to shooting the AR. She really enjoyed it.

Alden,Sydney and I made a trip to the beaver pond that evening. they fished out of the Crawdad and i fished out of the kayak. Libby said she had enough of the heat and would straighten up the camp while we fished. love that bride! We caught a few more bass and headed in early because they were supposed to leave by 8pm to get Sydney back home.

We caught most of the bass on baby brush hogs. caught a few on spinnerbaits and buzzbaits.

We had a great time and the kids can't wait to get back after those fish.
