    Still Sucking... But...

I had a great time playing in the swamp today anyway... Been way way busy even fished this morn then took the PM off for a little fun and possibly a blam...

I guess I missed it in the morn. There were fresh tracks all over the place right in the tracks of the the buggies that took off early. Rooted up patches from the size of a car to full blown bus sized ones. It sure seemed ripe .
After a bow season where I never found a decent track and a muzzleloader season where I only found one it at least got the heart pumping. Condition was finally ripe at my favorite spot. Shortly after setting up I passed a spike. In hindsight I shoulda popped him but the freeze is pretty loaded with fresh Jersey deer from my deckhand. I had pig on my mind but they evaded me. I went on a couple stalks finding good sign in a few places but again no oink to doink.
Still it was a rare cool weather day. Teal flying and all kinds of birds in general keeping me company. Even a lot of small gators to just make the day worth doing...
Back to work in morn but it was a nice quickie get away... Maybe next week I can sneak out for another try...

Our bow season comes early and really is the only "convenient" timing wise one we have. This time of year is scramble time. Get the boats out as much as possible to shake loose what is gonna break. Fish a couple pee wee tournies, fish for grins, just run the heck out of them so we can find all that hiddn stuff ready to let go though it looks good. Then fix it all and get a little more serious about catchin...
Do love a cool weather hunt tho... Our bow season is mid 90's bug hell and lots of thunderstorms to duck.

Slid off for a late PM try on Monday... No sooner got to my spot than that spike I had seen Saturday was doing a long cross on me. I was in the no rifle zone and tried him long on the run with the slug gun. I'm losy with guessing range. Was thinking i was at the edge of my blamerators world of 100 yards but guess it was more like 125 or even a shade more. The slug dropped under its chest and hit the water behind it.

At very end of legal light I had moved to rifle spot and vaporized a coon (Front half) for an old guy that fishes under the bridge near where I keep the boat. Oh well he at least got the back half that the 223 hadn't blown up too bad.
