SQUIRREL vs NEW 1000 fps PELLET RIFLE

Nolan took advantage of the day off from school and focused on a limit of squirrel with his new 1000fps pellet rifle. I must say I had my doubts about them until we did a little target practice. Now, we are waiting for a higher quality ammo for fine tuning the longer range accuracy. Until then I guess under 50 yds will have to do...LOL!!!

I just bought a Gamo groups about the size of a half dollar at 50yds. Pretty good for a pellet gun. I am just using their standard lead ammo. If you shoot their balistic ammo sounds like a .22...Mark

I am looking at the Gamo deluxe from Cabelas. They have a refurb for $189. Do you think your Gamo is a nice gun? Happy with the purchase? Looking to pull the trigger on one in a day or two.

Neat seeing so much interest on this topic. The boys have a Ruger Air Hawk and 2 Crosman Phantoms. Both are nice entry level air guns with the Ruger having an adjustable trigger to eliminate trigger crepe, not weight. Scope mounts included with the packages are not of much quality as Nolans was "loose" yesterday. He removed the scope in the field and continued his hunt taking all the 20yds+ shots with irion sights. The accuracy of these two guns are 2" groups at 50 yds and 12oz cans every shot to 65 yds. Ordered the Predator pellets and can't excited to see any difference of improved accuracy.

The air rifles have been a great way for the boys to learn everything involved with mounting scopes and sighting in their guns. Plus, with the cost of ammo going up these day, the plinky range X3 is alot softer on the pocket!
