Earlier in the year, I took a few pics of about 100 or more birds on a pond out by my parents. It hasn't been hunted in about 15 years. A couple of the pics are a little foggy. I stepped out of a 80 degree truck to 30 degree outside.

2nd one is ok, but the other two look like crap.
i love teal birds. my stepdad and some buddies went to mexico this past january and killed all three north american species in one afternoon. one of them is getting all three drakes of each species mounted which i think will be pretty special.
but not as special as a couple of those little birds plucked, stuffed, and baked with a little rasberry preserves on top sitting on a bed of wild rice.
got two teal mounted now...prolly one of my fav. ducks. That and widgeon.
Ive been wantin to make it to Mexico on a hunt for a while now...maybe this comin year. Be pretttty sweet!
wigeon, you say? i agree. there is no purtier working bird than the wigeon. i share the same feelings about wigeon that capt brian does about wahoo.....the only good wigeon is a dead one.Originally Posted by brandon558

Not that many deer around here. There are a few. All the hogs you want though. We counted over 40 at the same pond that these pics were taken. A couple of 'em looked to be about 400 - 450 lbs. We managed to get 4 out of the herd.Originally Posted by WAHOONBOX
Now your talkin'!!! There was a couple of times that I went down there and you couldn't fit another bird on the pond there were so many. Both Blue Wing and Green Wing. We usually don't see the Cinnamon Teal. The GW move in later on in the middle of winter. The BW show up in September.Originally Posted by JMS-ILM
one of my favorite hunts of my life involved teal.....and a pile of them! we used to go to mississippi and lousiana after Christmas every year. one year we located a flooded bean field that was holding probably 3000 GWT's. there was a tiny little mud hummock that stuck up in the middle of the field about 2mm's above the surrounding water. two of us layed on top of that hummock with decoys surrounding it. and the birds started piling in. and if you have shot many teal, you can probably imagine how fast and furious, yet incredibly tough, the shooting was. groups of 100 birds were on top of us in the blink of an eye. really an amazing experience.
unfortuantly, teal are bonus birds for the most part in the type places i hunt. i did kill a drake BWT this past season in a thick cypress swamp in the middle of january.....that was a real treat for around here.
The BW drakes are something else. Teal always remind me how slow I am. Before you know they're on top of you and gone before you can get the gun up.
