I had at 35 yds during bow season and just couldn't get a good shot at him. He was chasing does...2 went under my tree and one went the other way. Guess which doe he chased that morning.

Anyway, this was by for the most difficult shot I've ever had to make with any weapon on a deer. I was hunting a thicket which was holding about 14 does by 0830. He came off the hillside and enter the thicket to check does. I could see he had good mass, but couldn't make out much more b/c that stuff was so thick. He had does busting out everywhere. I was pretty much pinned down b/c I had several does within 10 yards of my tree.

I sat there froze and watching for about 10 minutes before most of the does starting to exit the thicket and head for a valley. At that point, one of the snorted (I think from all the commotion he was causing) and he froze. I didn't have much of a shot, quartering away at 70 yds. I could only see the kill zone from the back of the ribs to the back of the front shoulder. Knowing the angle was perfect, I cranked the scope up and picked my spot.

I wasn't sure that I even hit him, so I gave him an hour. He only went 60 yards. Yes it would have been a little nicer if I could have gotten him with the bow, but I'm just as tickled with the way things turned out. He's at the taxidermists! (Oh the smile isn't that big b/c I was giving instructions to the camera operator when he snapped this)
