Snowin and a Blowin

So I'm sitting in my office today and I look out the window. It is snowin like crazy. That's odd, it was sunny and no wind an hour ago. So I gather up my things and head out to the marsh. It is shaping up to be one of those days you dream about. I get out of the truck push the boat in the water and fire up the go devil. I hit the key and on the first turn it fires up. OK things are really looking good. I get out to the blind and it is a full on blizzard. I'm putting the dekes out and just imagining that this is going to be the day of the year. I hop in the blind and it's on. I sit there for 15 mins and what do I see over there in the distance.
Why it's the ................sun... It comes out in full force. It went from white out to blue bird in a matter of minutes. As I'm sitting there bewildered, I look to the north and see another one of these snow squalls comming. It keeps getting darker and darker and then starts snowing again. It keeps getting harder and harder and then it is full on blizzard again. I'm sitting there and I catch out of the corner of my eye 2 black ducks locked up and falling from high fast. Oh yeah it's back on. As I am thinking about which one I am going to shoot I see over to the left a huge flock of about 20 mallards turning base. OK man don't blow it on these two black ducks. Easy now. The two blacks pitch about 5 feet from the blind. Sandy is looking at me like well aren't you gonna shoot them???? I see the flock of mallards locked up on final, Sandy is sitting there motionless wondering why she can't dive in on these two just feet from her. As they get closer, I'm trying to figure out how I can take out the first three birds reload and plow out six. They are comming perfect right up the pike and I'm getting real nervous that Sandy is gonna jump, but she is sitting there like a statue focused now on the locked up mallards. I slowly reach for my gun..............kablam,blam,blam,blam,blam,boom,bang,boom............MOTHER, who the, what the, the mallards are flaring, the blacks in front jump and I'm sitting there thinkin who the F### is shooting. I fire off my 3 shots at the black that is the closest at about 100 yrds now in disgust. Sandy is diving in the water snorting and looking. I call her back and she gives me the look like you dumb ass why didn't you shoot the ones that were close enough to hit with the gun barrel. Then to add insult to injury the sun decides to come back out. It ends up being a beautiful sunset on the marsh and I didn't see another duck the rest of the afternoon. I don't know when I will ever learn that a bird in hand is worth a zillion in the sky. You never know what the guys in the rest of the marsh are gonna do and it will usually screw you up. Greed it will get ya every time.
