    Snakes

My buddy RoundHead got this one this morning. Took some of his beagles to the fox pen and let them run. Had to go back this morning and pick up one of the other guys dogs. Wearing his crocs he was headed out the woods when he stepped on a pile of leaves, could feel the snake. Snake lost.

Snakes don't usually bother me, but that one would up the pucker factor if I steped on it. It looks like a good rattlesnake now. Ja fry it?

No I did not cook this one. I was not there when it was killed, but was told that the sake was mad, then when he was shot he may have bitten himself in the rear. If I am going to eat one I like to make sure it is not upset and sneak up and cut its head off clean and iced down immediately. This one was taken to someone to tan the hide.

    beaglewoman,

I've caught, killed and eaten many, many rattlesnake's. I have to say that I've not once seen one bite itself. I'm not trying to pick a fight here, (really I'm not doubting you either) but have you ever seen one do that yourself? Just curious. There's alot of folk's around here that say the same thing, I've just not seen it. It really doesn't make sense to me why one would do it either. They are suely some good eatin' though. Frank

Frank, I have seen them accidently hit themselves whilst I was trying to pin them down on the ground. To me, when they get mad they get musky. I usulally get a few a year that I am willing to cook up and eat. This would have been a nice one.

And that right there is WHY I have snake boots.

I am not scared of snakes in the least, but I don't want one to get a chance to sink some fang in me either.

Know what you mean when you say they get "musky". Many times I have see Copperheads and Watermoccasins give off a sent when they get pissed. I saw a Moccasin and a Black Snake go at it and the air was thick for them both...
