Slayed 'em in the duck blind

It's the marsh seperated from the WMA by Starling Creek and Back Creek and includes the whole shoreline on Drum Bay.

If you come out of the ramp at Saxis and go out to the Sound when you go around the 1st Island on the left it starts at the 1st point. If you leave the ramp and head into Starling Creek it is the whole shore on your right past the 1st Island . Look at the chart and find Drum Bay and you will understand.

Dad, (Big Harry) is the last surviveing member of the old Saxis Island Gun Club that purchased the property shortly after WWII. He allows Grason Chesser to stake blinds out there, but I'm sure a few of the Marshals still try to stake some claim.

Oh...ok. I know Drum Bay, Fishing Creek, Back Creek, etc...do some hunting around that marsh in my floater. I know Grason hunts it some, I think he is more interested in not wanting anyone else to hunt it than he is in hunting it himself. We actually have a big blind out in the water at Piney Hammocks.

Speaking of Marshalls, Ronnie Marshall just passed away. I know several Marshalls and gun with one...CL Marshall, good friend of mine...his dad is Carrol Lee Marshall the carver. He has mentioned the guy that owns that marsh before...I'm sure he was talking about your dad cause he said the guy was from up your way. Arnold Ray Evans used to have a blind in there somewhere...I think on Drum Bay.

Hunting has sucked so bad this year.

I am heading down to fishing bay tommarrow.

In the last 7 days I have hunted the choptank river, honga river, patapsco river, back river and the gunpowder river. All I have to show for it is a stinkin black duck.

Add another sucky hunt to the list. I went to fishing bay and only got 2. I am cancelling friday and sat. hunts.

I'm hunting Saturday and Tuesday, but after that I'm just gonna go ahead and get some work done, it just aint worth the effort without some weather.

Here's a pic from last thursday there. The dog wasn't happy that I hauled the boat, then decided to relaunch and explore in the afternoon.



This pic makes this one look like a hybrid, but that white is from the trailing edge of the wing on the very very tips of the speculum. I'm guessing a young drake, he was small by blackduck standards. I was on the phone when a drake mallard w/ two blacks bombed in and flared at me trying to get the gun and cover up.

Shot at a hoody drake for shits and giggles and ended up with shits....missed three!!

I did see some Sika's and wished I was ML hunting instead. Wanted to make it back with the smoke pole this week, but won't have time.

Did have a good goose hunt on Friday, and Jon got some Jewelry that I could see while it was still in flight. Pretty cool stuff.

Anthony, I'm sorry to hear about Ronnie. I didn't know him well but met him a few times. Is CL Danny's brother? I believe he had a blind on the S. end a few years ago. And even though he dosn't hunt much anymore Wilson Glenn
can use it pretty much anytime

We leave it to Grason's discretion to oversee the comings and goings. After the accident down there a few years back we are happy to have someone keeping an eye on things.

CL is Carroll Lee's son, and Carroll Lee is Danny's brother. Small world isn't it? My dad grew up with Danny and Carroll Lee...I've got several of Danny's birds, he has got to be one of the finest carvers on the eastern shore, hell maybe on the east coast.

Wow, I remember that accident well. Friend of mine is who got killed...bad scene, he was a heck of a nice guy...although he didn't care much for Wilson Glen.

Let me know when you are coming down, would like to say hi. Heck, if the shooting improves up the creek you can jump in with us.

Be sure to let us know when you're coming now as we all will be hunting your marsh oopps I mean watching your marsh for you while your not down here. That's why we always had friends we let hunt our marsh when we couldn't keeps the trespassers off. Sad news today as two more children 1 from Tylerton and 1 from her dads boat near Fox Island were carried off by mosquitoes. Sorry old bad joke!
