Sika deer in the freezer
that was it for Thursday. Friday morning in the pouring rain we waited again and nothing was moving, after 10:00 I got down and tried to wring out my cloths and decided to take a walk about and low and behold I still hunted into a doe feeding in a clearing BOOOM end of the early season for me. Got back to the boat and headed in across the bay in 40+ knot winds and was wondering if I would make it never saw the small area we hunt blow into such a lather so quik seemed like every time the bow would rise on my 12' flatbottom the wind would blow me side ways and the water would spray into the boat. All in all a great hunt with many hurtles and added another great memory to my 25 year history of hunting these little elk.Saturday fishing report to follow soon.

Glad to hear it!!
I've only hunted those little tasty buggers once and it was at Assateague...not the best experience. I'm gonna hit a bunch of public land pretty hard in february and scout while the bugs are down. If you have time share some Sika stories and pics here. what'd she weigh? -D |

After fighting 40+ knot winds getting back in and finding the tide had the parking lot full of water white capping at 2 feet we threw everything in the trucks and hauled ass out, never got a picture of this one, but here are some from the past for your viewing pleasure.
The stag in the last picture is my best to date. Box has it right there is no better eating critter than a Sika, small member of the Elk family and yes we have killed some the size of poodles average is 45 to 50 pounds and huge ones go 85 to 90 pounds.
