Last Thursday was the first day of the early muzzle loader season in MD. and we where off to our spot in the marsh near Taylors Island, the fog made it near impossible to get to it because we go in by johnboats and visibility was 5 feet, lucky my buddy had his GPS along so after taking an hour to make our normal 20 minute journey we where in our stands and waiting for the fog to lift. About 09:30 I spotted a nice Sika buck off in the distance and when it got to the 100 yard mark I prepared only to have him turn and walk away in the brushthat was it for Thursday. Friday morning in the pouring rain we waited again and nothing was moving, after 10:00 I got down and tried to wring out my cloths and decided to take a walk about and low and behold I still hunted into a doe feeding in a clearing BOOOM end of the early season for me. Got back to the boat and headed in across the bay in 40+ knot winds and was wondering if I would make it never saw the small area we hunt blow into such a lather so quik seemed like every time the bow would rise on my 12' flatbottom the wind would blow me side ways and the water would spray into the boat. All in all a great hunt with many hurtles and added another great memory to my 25 year history of hunting these little elk.Saturday fishing report to follow soon.
