Went out Saturday morning and got out late. Took my buddy who wanted to shoot a turkey with his bow and I had been seeing a bunch. I like to Spring gobbler but I told him if he shot one he had to give it to the lady up the street so he agreed. I put him on the high spot of the hill and with no time to waste here comes three does while we are setting up. We scramble and they see us so they gone. 10 minutes later a shooter buck is coming and we get busted again after about a 15 minute stare down. Not totally busted but he wasn't coming any closer. I f I had been in my stand, I would have got him because he came right from there. At 8am I decide to leave because the buck is feeding 100 yards away. I try and move and here comes two does. Dang the deer are everywhere! The buck sees them and chases them off. Thats how it goes. Start walking to my stand and a little doe pops out and walks 15 yards from my buddy who misses. Just great, thats hunting though. So I start walking back to him and a small 4 pointer walks in to 30 yards, let him go. So now its 9:15 and I got to go work on duck blinds. Jump a doe on the walk out coming down the path through the cut over. Deer every where.
Went out in the afternoon after duck blind business and start seeing deer at 3:15. Its a five pointer 200 yards away chasin a doe in the corn field. I bleet one time at him when the wind stops blowing and he comes running. I snapped this pick when he walked by at 8 yards with my phone so thats why its so bad. Well the doe follows him for some reason and I shoot it, it ran down to my buddy and he put the double whammy on it. THE DARN THING WAS A BUTTON! I try not to shoot little bucks but didn't think twice on this one because it was being chased by the five pointer. Oh well, it happens. 10 minutes later the big buck from the morning runs a doe out 80 yards from me and never comes back. Oh well, I'll get him eventually. Then I see two does 100 yards away from me before I get out the stand and go clean my buck and settle for wood duck for dinner. Nice day and a dang lot of deer. my best day ever behind the house.
