Not only is it stupid to carry a loaded rifle or shotgun in your vehicle it is also against the law.

People take firearms way to lightly and pass these same wrong and unsafe practices to there children.

and yes, there are alot of stupid people who hunt, both with or without dogs.

when you say loaded, do you mean in the chamber or in the magazine?

i have a 700 that i bought new in 1981. it has had a trigger job and breaks at 2.25 lbs. i have hunted with it almost every year since then and it has never misfired or AD'd. i think the ones that are having the trouble were made sometime after that to make them safer. on mine you can't work the bolt when it is on safety. so you have to have it on fire to load and unload. All the ones i have heard of having a problem are the ones with the 3 position safety.

remember to treat all guns as if they were loaded at all times.

I watched the show on the 700 misfiring issue and the man who designed it had the fix early on, If I owned on I would look into a trigger swap say like a timmney (spell), I owned one many years ago in 7mm mag. I shot the gun a good bit and never had a problem, not that that is any comfort as the problem is well documented even by the designer. Be safe!
