    Quick homemade treestand

I got permission from my dads girlfriend to hunt on 77 acres that she has had for awhile. I haven't saved the money yet to buy some ladder stands but I can't hunt where I normally do this weekend so im trying to figure out how to build a quick stand. Im trying to do this as cheap as I can. Its gonna be on some powerlines so it doesn't need to be to high, I just want to see over the tall grass.
    Got any ideas?

You can always do a crotch board... just a 2X6 that you cut notches into and wedge in a trees fork.
I wouldnt do any home made stands unless your OK falling from whatever height you put the stand at.
You can always tote a ladder into the woods and just sit on top of it (I wouldn't, but I have seen people do it).

I dont know if the place your hunting has drive in access, but I have seen people hunting off the roof of theirs... it doesnt seem to bother deer at all.

It bothers deer in some places and others it doesn't. At my uncles hunting club in tyrell county it is vast soy bean fields as far as you can see. I hunted one day out of the truck, I listend to the radio and what not. A doe walked out about 200yards, so opened the sun roof, stood up and rested the gun on the truck. And shot the deer. But I tried to hunt out of the truck one day at my hunting club near rockymount, a buck and 2 does walked out took one look at the truck and took off running.

Go ahead and skimp on the stand if you want to...but not on a harness...do yourself a favor and spend some money on one!

Dicks has some hang ons for about $40 bucks that is put up properly will work fine.... and are a lot less viable...you will prob need abother $30 bucks worth of spikes or find a tree with branches. You could use big nails if she will allowe her trees to be destroyed.

If you have some trees around to lean against here is a real simple and cheap, less than $20 in 2x4s you can build in a few hours. I use 12' 2x for the legs but you can use 8 to 16s if you want. Wrap a rachet strap through the knee brace and around the tree or you can get fancy and put eye bolts through the platform sides. Sorry about the crappy artwork its just a quick sketch but youll get the idea. These easily hold my fat ass and Im 260lbs. If you dont have trees make it wider and put legs on the back as well and use X braces instead of knee braces.

    Great art

Nothing wrong with the artwork on the stand, but what king of tree is that? Your plan is right on the money, we built lots of these types of ladder stands. CHeap, comfy and you can customize it anyway you like. Good luck to all for the hunting season. 77 acres is a nice piece to have all to yourself. See if your dad's girlfriend has sisters.
