Question for MA hunters about license

    Hey -

So I've been getting conflicting information about my CT Hunters/Safety course being used to obtain MA license. I've been told both - that it can/cannot be used to obtain a MA hunting license. These conflicting answers have come from both the state of MA and friends. Does anybody know whether or not I'm able to use my CT info to obtain MA license? I have to still work on getting my firearms permit, but I'm told I need to complete the MA Basic Hunters Education first. Seems I'd be able to save a step if my CT info will work. Thank you for any help you can provide. DJ

AS THE LAW BOOK STATES BELOW, ITS PRETTY CUT AND DRY, MOST ALL STATES AND CANADA, FOLLOW THE SAME GUIDE LINES, I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS ANYWHERE AS LONG AS YOU HAVE YOUR OLD LICENSE, BELOW IS STRAIGHT FROM THEM, HOPE THIS TAKES CARE OF YOUR PROBLEM...

NONRESIDENTS: A valid Massachusetts non-resident license (hunting, fishing and trapping) is required of non-residents. A big game license (license Class H5) is required to hunt deer, bear and wild turkey. For more information, see page 21

    BELOW IS PAGE 21,

    NON-RESIDENT HUNTERS:
    • Must have a valid Massachusetts non-resident hunting license in order to hunt.
    • Must show a Basic Hunter Education course certificate or previous license from any state or Canadian province in order to purchase a Massachusetts hunting license. Non-
resident minors (ages 15–17), see MINORS, page 8. Each license includes a $5.00 charge for a Wildlife Conservation Stamp.
    • Must obtain the same stamps

Thank you NYB. I should have been more clear - I am a resident of MA, but did all my hunters education growing up in CT. I never attempted to get a MA license, but now have an opportunity to do some geese and duck hunting this fall, I need to get dialed in. I'll do some more research and see what I can find out. Thank you!
