Drawbacks

1. I "used" to like to bring alot of crap with me hunting...drinks..snacks..ect.. With this set up theres not really anywhere to put your "stuff". I use a screw in step hang my bow from and back pack.

2. It would be hard to stand up and take a pee in a bottle..haven't tried it yet...but I don't think that it would be easy. Standing up and taking a stretch isn't a problem at all...actually I haven't had to because it's so comfortable.

3. It would be hard for your buddy to borrow your stand...oh..wait..that can be a good thing

4. Tree steps....I have found my self buying 3-4 steps everytime I walk into a sporting goods store..this is because I leave the steps in the top and bottom portion of the tree if I plan on using it again..this season or the next. Right now I have about 9 different location to hunt from and I've used probably 35 steps. This could be solved if I just removed the steps each time, which really isn't a problem.

5. It fits very nicely behind the seat of my truck...I find my self sneaking an hour or two in the stand when I really should be working.

All jokes aside...I really haven't found a GOOD reason to use my climber instead of the Tree Saddle. This type of stand really matches my hunting style. I'm not a ladder stand hunter, if i hunt a corn pile it's because I put out corn 4 days before, I don't hunt out of box stands... instead I move to where the sign is..food..cover..rubs..good trails. I don't hunt a spot more than 2 times a week, if I haven't seen good buck I move. This stand isn't for everybody, but it sure works for me!

I have seen this product several times in magazines but was curious as to whether it worked or not. I climb a summit viper and it works for me. Maybe one day I'll give this one a try. THanks for sharing.

The main reason that I bought it was because it allowed me to hunt areas where my climber wouldn't, because you can hunt ANY tree that hold your weight. The smaller the better. Its easier to manuver around the smaller trees and take a shot.

I have a friend who uses this stand when they drive deer during gun season
they don't use steps they all have tree climbing spikes and a harness.
climb up where ever they want and tie off to an overhanging branch
a lot easier than a stand to hang and they work great for short hunts
