Ok, you probably don't care to get all of this info Thin Blue Line, but I took some pics while I was out yesterday and I am sure someone has wanted to pig hunt but doesn't know what to look for. First is an old logging trail that grew over with grass. The pigs had mowed it up pretty good 2 weeks ago, but yesterday, most of it was old... only a few good fresh rootings. They were still traveling down the old trail recently, but there was not enough sign for me to get excited about sitting in that spot.
The pigs kind of use there noses and heads like a shovel and so the rootings are narrow sequences of plowed earth pushed into piles at one end. I also took a pic of a hog track. Not really clear in the pic, but you can see its rounder than a deers.
The next couple are pictures in a small pine flat that had some little red oaks dropping their acorns. They had been busting it up really recently probably earlier that afternoon. You can tell as the ground is really sandy here and so dries very quickly in the 80 degree heat and the stiff wind we had yesterday. As you can see in the last pic, the soil is really dark w moisture. Wind was wrong for this spot so we went to another spot.
We went into an immature pine stand for the third spot. Many times they will feed in around pine for grubs as well. I was going to take pics of some rubbing trees (where they scratch themselves against a tree) but when we were going to a spot that has a bunch, we ran into someone who was hunting the spot already. (thus we left and went to our forth spot of the day) But all you need to look for are trees that are covered in dried mud up 3 feet high. Its pretty obvious. I also was going to get a pic of pig poo for you, but only saw one pile and I was loaded down with a stand and the bow at the time, so I couldn't get the camera free. This spot was where we hunted. It was a nice little trail that is absolutely destroyed with pig rootings, but also is covered in deer tracks and a few bear tracks. I will go again next week, and if anyone is interested, get more pics.

Thank's, Frank

. I hunted a few week's last winter with the same result's. The year before I brought 3 home. To me taking a good hog is way harder than a deer. Keep at it, you know what they say, "a blind hog........" well you know the rest
