pig in the cooler

We combined some good info from Lipripper (THANKS), a lot of phone calls and some internet searching to find us a place to hunt hogs. We went weekend before last and saw lots on our first time there, about 50 in two days of hunting. Many of those were small pigs with sows but I thought we learned a lot about some new areas and spot and stalk pig hunting with our bows. We have taken several hogs by mostly ambushing them with the help of the yellow stuff. This spot and stalk hunting is a lot more work, but very exciting and rewarding. We needed the exercise and have been getting plenty of it.

We figured after our sucess finding hogs two weeks ago we had this thing figured out. Much to our surprise, perscribed burning in our area the day before our return changed things. Plan B went into effect and focused on some new area again. We were able to locate some decent sign.

The hogs weren't as plentiful here but we did manage see a few and put one in the cooler.

We plan to try this again, we'll getem next time.....maybe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took a cut away pic of the hogs vitals for those not familiar. They are a little further forward than a deer, and much smaller in comparison.

100 lb. pig heart is not a big target for a bow, the lungs aren't much bigger. I shot this pig at 30yds coming straight at me and cut the arteries that connect the heart and lung. It went about 150 yds.

That has to be extremly hard in that thick timber. I did alittle of this in Florida in the palmetto bushes. we had dogs. Wasnt very sporting but very cool to experience. I was to worried about snakes to enjoy the hunt.

Great job. It looks like a nice place to hunt. I love the "bike" pics. That looks like a great way to cover some ground and get a work out!

Way to make it happen after a sudden change in plans! I am outta meat... gotta go get me another one!

Now you have gone and done it! You have shown the best way to cut and run turkeys on big tracks of land. Bike can be your best asset.

Seriously, congratulations on some fine swine hunting. I know you had fun. Thank you for sharing.
