That new crossman is destined to become my coon capper... Those ringtailed scumbags can wreck a neighborhood in quick order. Screw with pets, dump trash cans, tear through screens, get into houses and turn em upside down, and a lot of em are rabid. That crossman slings at 1000 fps. Thats the ticket. .20, .22 isn't the issue. You need some whack and the velocity delivers it. The gamo at 650 just falls short. The other crossman (multi pump) gets to about 750 and will do the job but it takes some time for em to die. The 1000 though I've seen em lay right out. Would punch clean through bugs and probably air condition a second one if it was behind the first...

Not a lot of bb or pellet drama in my world... A few coons and possums fill in the big game end of things. Found the pellet to be usefull in aquiring suburban treats like pond teal and telephone wire doves when I was a kid.

Bottom line is BB's suck.
Shoot pointed pellets. Pellet guns are rifled and can be very accurate. I had a crossman 10 shot semi auto that just bit the dust. It killed a ton of rabbits and squirrels. Shot placement is key. Shoot at the head/neck joint and you'll have one dead rabbit. If you hear the WHOP of a rib shot that sucker will jump 4 feet in the air and run off. With a good neck shot it'll just go to bed with a little bit of flopping and foot kicking. -D |

Hubris,
I have had all kinds of pellet guns over the years. For sheer power nothing compares to the 20 caliber English BSA riffles. But the all time best pellet gun, in my humble opinion, is the classic RWS Diana 48 (http://www.airgundepot.com/rws-48177-combo.html) Beautifully engineered, this 48 is the most accurate, non competition pellet gun ever made. By the way, it'll take out a rabbit, or a squirrel, or a chicken, or.... Good luck, Biscuit |

When you boys get your fill of playing with your toys and want to get rid of the rabbits eating the daffodills, set a rabbit box (live trap for the suburbanites) baited with guinea pig food or similar and be done wth it. No $300 toy gun required, no midnight Rambo Stakeouts in the Petuna patch--- just fried rabbits ,full gardens and letting low tech work for you instead of working for a damn bunny.

Yo GW, not a very "selective" trapping assembly. In most neighborhoods, you'd be busy dealing with fussy possums and mean raccoons! Fry them suckers!
"Pellets & petunias" sounds like a great tittle for the suburban rabbit warfare enthusiast! Biscuit |
