Pa Turkey ! awesome hunt !

My Brother and I arrived in Lycoming co. around 9pm thurs night. I was up for the duration of the weekend , but he had to leave after the morning hunt on friday. We got settled in to the cabin relaxed for a few minutes , laid out all of the gear and then hit the sack for an early 3:30 wake up call. Woke up at 3:30 got all of our gear on and loaded into the truck. we were up on top the mountain at 4:15. The weather was less than perfect . Rainy but warm and foggy. We decided to make our first setup only a few hundred yards from the truck in the only open filed on the mountain. The top section of the field had been freshly plowed so we were excited about the chance of birds comin in early to strut and feed in the field. We got the decoys out and setup and started calling, after not hearing any birds we shut up and called sparingly for the next 30 minutes. The sequence of calls we did I was on the box and slate and my bro was on the gobble shaker. Not 45 seconds after that last sequence BOOOOOOM no more than 100 yards from our setup, oh well shit happens right? We got back in the truck and headed to a logging road that we were going to try and locate a bird. Walking down the road slow but steady stopping every 100 yards or so to make a few calls we noticed a lot of turkey sign on the road. Just then a Hen went running across the road in front of us, so not hearing any beards yet, but knowing they were in the area we decided to setup and wait them out. We choos an area on the road that had a small clearing of to the side where if any beards were to step out they would be able to see our decoys form 100 yards in either direction. We sat down in a small depression along side of the road where the only parts of us sticking above the ground line was our heads (perfect). We did a sequence of calls just to let any birds in the area know there was action up here and to come check it out. At this point(7:45am) the rain had stopped ,the fogg was lifting and the sun was trying to peek through. After 20 mintues of sitting Dan picks up his primos crystal and does a few real soft purrs and Blam GOBBLE GOBBLE . Oh shit I thought that bird is hundred yards coming from behind us. We got turned around and 1 minute later dan hit those purrs again and GOBBBLE GOBBLE at 70 yards . I looked down the road and here he comes. He popped up over the hill and saw our decoys , full strut immediately . Dan and I looked at each other and knew is was game on,only one problem,if this guy came down the road I would not be able to shoot until he was in our lap (obstructed by brush and branches) oh well we are so hidden this may just work. I have had many encounters over the years but this Turkey put on an absolute show . He would take three fast long strides and blow up as much as he could showing all his beauty . He was in range at this point but I could not shoot . The Tom kept coming at a steady pace in full strut spitting and drumming so loud I could feel it . At one point the Tom was 15 feet to my right just going nuts, he hated seeing that Jake with the hen. He was so close I could almost reach out and grab him. I thought to myself justr a few more feet and he will be at the end of the barrle of my Rem 870. Heart pounding like never before He finally strutted into the opening I needed and ShAMBALAAAMMMM laid the smack down on him at 5 steps, noty 5 yards, 5steps !!!! Dan and I were out there in second and then the realization of what had just taken place set in. Hard to describe the feeling of elation and adrenaline we had , but needles to say there were hoots and hollars of relief, excitment, and flat out bliss.

We both have had our share of incredible hunts together , but this was by far the best for both of us. Any of you that hunt turkeys can understand the emotion and feeling that a hunt like this brings. Does it get any better ? I don't know but if I never had another chance to hunt I would always look back at this hunt and smile. The best part of all of this is I got to expierence this with my Bro , and our relationship is all the stronger because of it..... PRICELESS !!!

Sorry for the long winded story, but I wanted to try and describe the best turkey hunt to date for us the best I could.
Thanks,
Brian
