Our little opening day dove hunt.

Dad made the trip up staying with my brother and getting out on the James early for a goose hunt. Dad was quite proud of his double he dropped!

Met Chadd and Dad in the early afternoon for our opening dove hunt. Just 5 shooters including my older two boys and their little brother Ewing joining our lab Walt retrieving and trying to cover the 200+ acres of foxtail millet. This made for a great day with lots of dove, not many shots but everyone got several dove each. The farmer was working on one half with his big 5020 JD keeping the birds stirred up while we hunted the other half. Heading back Monday for day II.

Beautiful piece of land your hunting there Net. Good to hear that your pop got on some geese as well. Sounds like a good time was had by the whole family.

I was very fortunate yesterday here in NC to be able to hunt a cut corn field and managed a limit with time to spare to let the birds get back in the corn to feed. My 18 month old lab did a fine job.

I hope you guys tear em up Monday.

Sounds like a great way to start the season... Reports like this make me wonder what I'm doing across the pond!
