opinions on a new bow
Hey guys, I am in the market for a new hunting bow. I have some buddies that shoot Matthews and I like the looks of them but now that I am looking around it seems like thare is not a lot of difference in any of the higher end bows. So whats your preference and why?
Matthews, Bowtech, Bear truth, Hoyt, PSE, others??? |

I like Bowtech bows Im on my third one. I have the Guardian and love it. I couldnt decide between the Hoyt Katera or the Guardian and after shooting the two I chose the Guardian. My brither had a hoyt nd now shoots a Bowtech 82nd Airborne. That bow is super fast ans quiet. Just my two cents.

I have been shooting Mathews for about 6 years now, and my dad has been shooting them for at least a decade. We've never had a bad experience, they shoot great and last a long time being used in harsh conditions.
Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much. I have heard a lot of good things about the other brands too. The bowtechs and hoyts are great bows from what I've heard, and the technology available today almost ensures you will be happy with whatever you end up with. If it feels good in your hand, then that is a good start. |

I shoot Hoyt ProTech, it's great but so are the Mathews. Those are the 2 I would recommend and I'd go to a proshop where you can shoot sevral different models. Pick the one that feels best to you.

I shoot a Pearson and have had no problems with it, and plenty of meat has met the fridge by it's fury.
Go with what fits you and feels right. It's about you, not about what the pros on TV say or what we say here. Shoot a number of bows in your price range and pick the one that fits you. -D

My preference is PSE, always shot them, quietest bow on the market in my opinion. That said the three other guys I hunt with, all use Matthews and all wouldnt switch.

With any of the companies you mentioned you will get a good bow. Making sure you are proprly fitted is critical to how accurate you will shoot it . A few things to remember when you go . Speed is not the be all end all. I've been shooting since 1975 and have killed a lot of deer with old technology and new . Game is really not hard to kill if you put the arrow in the right place . Don't get hell bent on having the fastest thing out there . Fast bows have a tendency to embelish and bad shooting habits you may have if any . Moderate speed and a good arrow weight will penetrate deeper that a toothpick going mach 10. A brace height over 7" will be a more forgiving bow. If you can , shoot a couple see what feels good to you and base your descision from there . All of those companies make good bows.
