    WHICH ONE IS IT...

    HARVEST OR KILL.

WATCH THE MANY HUNTING SHOWS THAT ARE AIRED TODAY AND THEY ALL USE THE WORD "HARVEST" FOR "KILLING" A GAME ANIMAL.

YOU ALSO WILL READ IT IN MAGAZINES AND ON THE INTERNET.

I EVEN HEAR HUNTERS SAYING THEY JUST "HARVESTED" A DEER.

I ALWAYS THOUGHT "HARVEST" WAS SOMETHING THAT A FARMER DID TO HIS CROPS...

AND TO "KILL" A DEER IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A HUNTER GOES HUNTING.

    SO, WHICH ONE IS IT...

Kill, thwhacked, smoke'd em.......and my favorite stiffed em.......sure at the end of the tracking or after the smoke clears you killed your intended target, archery hunting which I do 90% of my hunting....I am thwhacking them....that sweet sound of hearing the arrow hit its mark and watching the knock dissapear in the boiler room........its arrousing to say the least.....when I do gun hunt....there is nothing like stiffing one and dropping it in its tracks....The way I see it I am not harvesting anything untill after I have already killed it.....only then am I bringing it out of the field

Well, I look at it this way. I do not hunt for a rack i hunt for the table. My family's bellies depend on it for our winter protein. When I fish, I fish for the table also. So I do consider my self as a harvester, but killing is what i do!!!

I do think its a lot of PC to what you are seeing and hearing from the outdoor media as Harvest is more associated with farming thus more PC than being a killer.

You nailed it...same reason most show's throw up a disclaimer right before the kill shot...I guess someone would be offended by a animal being killed on a hunting show.

The term was 100% invented by the magazines and TV shows for PC reasons.

    I can't stand it.

    Hmmm...intellectually puzzling to me.

Considering the intended final act and a long common expression and institution, "slaughter house", "killing" or the even starker "slaughtering" seem to me to be appropriate descriptions of that one aspect (there are many aspects to hunting) of hunting.

Otherwise, let's go "kill" some corn, or watermelons, or whatever. Or hey, maybe do a bit of bird watching? Or berry picking? Mushroom gathering?

I'm for saying what you are doing. And if it seems too odious, or gory, or embarrassing to talk accurately about, don't do it, okay?

"Harvesting" game is mealy-mouthed, mumbler-fumbler speak.

I have been a killer most of my life, think I was 4 when I killed my first bird and know that is how old I was when I killed my first Goose. Still like to kill Speckle Trout to eat every now and then and guess I will kill some more till I die or am killed... Now with that said, I take blue crabs and lobsters and I kill them when I put then in boiling hot water...
    MirrOlure when big fish count!

I had a very good year and killed a few deer, hogs, turkey and such. Helped my wife pick some stawberries. Not sure I harvested anything so maybe it was just a good year, instead of a very good year.

Us Deeps don't "harvest"... Even if its tomatoes or berries its picked. When it comes to meat since our deer down here are hardly worth the effort of slinging a shaft or round at it we focus on ferral hogs. When we get one it's "Popped the pork", "poked the pig", "blammed the ham", or "doinked the oink"...
