OK so I got a new bow.

Now what do I put on it? Just bought a left over (08) Bowtech Allegiance and need to accessorize this bad boy. Sites,Quiver,rest,arrows,B-heads you get the picture everything. I'm leaning toward a whisker biskit just for simplisity and speed hunter arrows. Thoughts suggestions? Scotty.

Personally I like a small removable three arrow quiver. I use the three arrow Quickie Quiver. Arrows cant go wrong with the Carbon Express Maxima 3D express. One of the best arrows made. I like fixed blade broad-head because I hunt Elk as well as deer and don't change bows. I prefer the Muzzy 100gr three blade broad-head. (Don'T fix what isn't broken been using them forever) I like the Whisker Bisket you will be happy with it. I use a adjustable Golden Key Arrow Rest with the old lizard tongue style launcher. Don'T forget string silencers and Limb Saver vibration dampers. I like Fixed Pins for hunting on the ground but use a pendulum sight for tree stand hunting....Good luck Mark

If you don't know what your doing go to a PRO shop. SET UP is everthing. I like a drop away rest don't like anything touching my fletchings. I prefer fixed blades over expandables. Make sure your quiver does not make noise when you shoot. Quiet,Quiet,Quiet and SMOOTH

    Scotty,

There is a gazillion different things to put on your bow, I will tell you I have tried most and this is what I like.

    1. I use a peep site (no rubber tubing) and a kisser button.
    2. A 3 or 5 arrow quiver - your choice
    3. Trophy taker fall away rest - awesome rest
    4. Black Gold 7 pin sight (5 pins is fine)
    5. Bowjax limb silencers and sts system.
    6. Spider speed ball string silencers
    7. I like Alum arrows - 2216's with 4" vanes
    8. Nock above and below the arrow with a string loop

    Hope this helps.

    Congrads on the bow!

I am a fan of the whisker, simple to set-up, nothing to fail, arrow never falls off, and it is quiet.

As far as sight I highly recommend Sword Acu-Site. I have a twilight hunter and it is by far the brightest I have ever used. They also will set it up with any colors you want and size optics you want to include .010 which is awesome for longer shots. Customer service is great too, if you call them you will likely speak to the owner. Great price too. http://www.swordacu-site.com/index.html

Can't go wrong with a kiwi quiver.
Recommend an ultra noc as well, especially if using a peep site, it will keep the peep lined up.

BH - Rage 2 blades, they are the chit! Buckets of blood. Nothing replaces good shot placement however they can make up for poor shot placement.

    Good luck with your bow

Keep them coming guys! I should probly fine tune this a little.
I've been shooting bows for fourty years or but have fallen way behind the tech seen on this stuff (I tend to not change stuff that works) My current bow is a Jennings Uniforce XLR 70# I'm shooting 2216's with 5"feather fletch, over draw, shoot through finger rest, muzzy 100 3 blades, 4 arrow quiver, and am using a release of which the release is the only thing that will bolt on to a modern bow. My previous bow is a 74 Robinhood two wheel wood/glass limb, two stick bows before that. Have killed deer with all.

I don't think of myself as a rookie but am overwhelmed with all the choices that are available today and am trying to sort through what really works and what them slick marketing guys are trying to sell. I have a great shop and will get everything tuned perfect once I decide what I'm using.

So for deer hunting (no 3D or leage stuff) 3 months a year in all weather what is working best for you guys?

Sorry about the long post but it's winter and the ice is just getting safe. Scotty.

Hey, if it makes you feel any better Scotty, I am with you in that sense. Shooting a bow for 20 plus years. I recently "upgraded" to a solo cam, and some of the fancier stuff.... (IE drop rest, release loop, fiber optic sites, solo cam on bow etc etc) My last bow was a Bear Kodiak.

Now I have this fancy new bow, a PSE (Fancy in my eyes) and go to the bow shop cuz for the life of me, I cant get it to shoot near as well as my old Kodiak. They spent 2 hours walking me through everything, and now I am pretty impressed.

What he did tell me... my bow has ~ '92-94 technology. Said that its so far outdated, its not even modern. I was like.... well, once it stops killing, I move to something else.

Carbon arrows (now) and fixed three blades. It seems to work. Man, i HATED giving up aluminum arrows.

    Hey Scotty,

Congrats on the new bow. One things that I would change from your old setup... If you do choose the bisquit, I would ditch the feathers and would recommend 2 in. blazers on your arrows.

Dont forget the counter balance......i havent made the move to carbons yet for the simple reason if it aint broke dont fix it....same can be said for the muzzy 100 grain broadheads. Funny story about the difference a counterbalance makes......I got my bow restrung from a local shop....after they charged me double what they quoted me for the new string, the last thing i said to the extremely cocky guy working the counter was take a good look asshole because you will never see my face again. So i go home and start shooting...the bow is practically jumping out of my hands, my group at 30 yards was the size of a beach ball...i am thinking wtf and then i notice the counterbalance is gone......damit as if i wasnt enraged enough now i had to drive 30 minutes back to the place i just said i would never go back to...of course the same prick that ticked me off was still working....he asked me what it loked like, um ah its black and about 6 inches long, he went back and looked and couldnt find it so he said just go pick one out and then you dont have to come back like you said......si naturally i picked the most expensive doinker counterbalance they had on the shelf....so i won in the end.

    get the biscuit

Scotty, get the biscuit dude! It is one less thing you need to worry about in the woods. Your arrow cannot fall out, it doesn't make any sound, and it does not affect the flight of the arrow. Well worth the price.
