If you know were they live ??? Amonia works wonders

also it is a great Racoon and Skunk Deterent

The laws up here are so strict you can get arrested for disposal of Wildlife so we just Deter them with balled up socks soaked in Amonia

I trapped a bunch of Coons one time and when i called the state to dipose of them they released them back in my yard ????? WTF

You should have seen the damage they did to my garage in the back were it was out of site in one months time so we did the amonia trick and they never returned

Thanks Guys. I may just try the trap next as shooting at these guys with anything more powerful might take out a window. I like the amonia trick as well and will pass it on to my neighbor. He has a racoon that tosses the metal lids off his trash cans as if they bottle caps. I acutally did see it early one morning as this was the chubbiest racoon I've ever seen. So fat, it would hardly run

foul, two things i know you can try that will work. a higher powered air rifle in .177 cal. they cost about 150-200 but at 1100 fps(ft/per sec) they will kill them. another deal is to get a small live trap like a hav-a-heart model and bait it up w/ corn or peanuts. once you catch them take them into the confinesof your garage or someplace and shoo the bugger in the head w/ the red rider. right behind the ear will do the trick. or you culd tie a rope to the handle and drop itinto the water for a beer. they have a tough time breathing underwater while you drink a beer. remember to cut the tail off everyone you kill and put into the freezer until you get a bunch and then send them to mepps or soemone like that and they will pay you for them. double the price if you take merchandise instead of $$.

These are what we (SHUNT/BTH) used growing up to eradicate squirrels, woodpeckers, flickers, blue jay and any other bird or beast that would get into the fruit or nut trees we had in our yard. Pop paid us $.25 for birds and $.50 for a squirrel. As you can imagine when there were bounties on the line we got paid alot !!!!

Used to get questioned all the time as to "I wonder why their are no more birds that come in the yard anymore" by our mom.

heres a couple pictures of the traps i use. in the open position....put a little pile of seed on the pedal in the center and some seed scattered around the outside to lure him in for the motherlode.....

when he steps on the pedal, it trips the doors and they slam shut on either end and lock. i like the double door traps....i think the squirrels are a little less wary of them when they dont feel enclosed.

if squirrel season is in and i have a hankering to fry a mess of the sumbitches up.....that Hav-a-Hart trap becomes an Eat-a-Bullet trap in a heartbeat! the barrel of my ruger single six slides right in that wire mesh with ease.

Modern solution guaranteed to work for you Rob.
Wire a rat trap to a tree about chest high. #2 to #9( bright piano preffered)
Load the trap with peanut butter and set. Stand by with video camera.

WARNING THIS METHOD IS NOT ENDORSED BY PETA WHATSOVER!!!!!
If you have any soft hearted people around I would not suggest that they watch.

    Rob-

I have a 12 shot Co2 powered pellet rifle that single handedly destroyed the rabbit population of my neighborhood. With a little patience and a slowly opened window the squirrels can be taken care of.

I always have a fresh Co2 and make sure I make a head shot or at least a shot in the vitals.

Pointed pellets are a must and are affectionately known as "lung rippers"

I just had a family of 5 born in our screened porch soffit and 5 rabbits are also wreaking havoc on the garden and bushes.

AIM SMALL MISS SMALL....the problem will be over in no time.

The single shot, break action pellet guns with a High FPS rating are the heat too.

The problem with poisoning is neighborhood pets.....DONT POISON....a pellet will only have one victim when used properly.

    Good luck,

    D

My dad got a Gamo pellet gun at Dicks a few years ago because the squirrels were eating the poolhouse up. It works great. I think it travels at 100fps
