When someone shoots a bear like this, is it to eat or to stroke an ego?

I'm sure it was eaten (or will be) and I'm sure the hunter was proud of his kill. Is there something wrong with that?

I heard they wanted to release it, but, when they got it to the tree stand it was tail wrapped with a snare and too tired to revive...I believe it was later cut up and distributed to the locals where it is considered a delicacy. On a more positive note, kids from the local high school can now safely sneak into the woods at lunch to get high without fear of being eaten by the monster bear.

    Reel Sharp,

I have been a pretty hard bear hunter for many year's now. I have been apart of big boar's taken to 660lb. I can tell you to the bear, that everyone was eaten. I have never taken an animal (with the exception of coyote's) that didn't end up on the table, in it's entirety. I have no interest in shooting a brown bear (griz) simply because everyone I've talked with say they aren't any good to eat. I'll also add, that whenever possible, we do not take sow's. Several have been run this year, without a shot fired yet. Not being judgemental here, just giving you my take. Frank

Right, That's all I was thinking. If you are going to shoot, shoot to eat. It would have been a shame to see such a beast just go to waste for the sake of a photo op. Granted, I am proud too when I pull a beastly fish to the boat, I also make sure if I kill the fish, Tacos are in the near future!.........How about bear tacos?
